BECKY BURNS
Becky Burns aspired to become a secretary at a young age following in the
footsteps of her grandmother, who served a county judge for many years. She
spent a week with her grandmother every summer at the courthouse. Through this
mentorship, a desire was birthed within her to serve in a support role. Becky
received her Associate of Applied Science in Legal Secretary and began working
toward her career goals in the legal field. Very methodically, God reshaped her
outlook on her career and focused her desire to serve in the church office,
specifically assisting pastoral leaders. God used another powerful relationship
with an ordained Assemblies of God mentor, her mother-in-law, to begin training
her for her future area of ministry.
Since that time, she has served in church administration for 16 years and
counting. She has worked in small, medium, and large churches. Discovering
there was little training or teaching for church secretaries, she sought the
Lord for inspiration, direction and guidance. God began to show her ways to
combine her professional experience and ministry training to benefit the church
office and offer a unique perspective on the church secretary's role. She
combines humor and experience to reveal practical and strategic ways for church
secretaries to partner with pastoral leadership for Kingdom impact.
Currently, Becky is serving Westover Hills Assembly of God in San Antonio,
Texas, as Lead Pastor Jim Rion's Executive Assistant. In addition, she partners
with several leadership organizations and area churches to equip and encourage
church leadership through conferences, seminars, workshops, consulting, and
mentoring. She attends Westover Hills Assembly with her loving and supportive
husband, Louis, and their children, Ryan and Witney.
